Date Night

Last night we ventured where many new parents dread: the first night away from the baby. Our very very good good friends, Brandon and Lisa Klassen, were our babysitters for the night. You may have heard their names mentioned if you ever asked how Andy and I met. Yes, it was while helping them get ready for their wedding that we met and got to know each other. But back to this story... they are also expecting their first daughter. Lisa is due at the end of September. This was a great way for them to get a taste of having a baby in the house and see how their sweet pup, Lucy, would handle it, too. Back to the date... Andy had turned the destination into a surprise. It's just one of the things I love about him... He plans these fabulous, meaningful "events" for us to share. This was no let down, either! Do you remember the music group Men At Work? You've certainly heard the song Land Down Under. Well, after the group broke up, the lead singer went out and started a solo career. Colin Hay is his name and, if you ever get a chance, you should definitely go see him! He's an absolute riot and a fabulous musician. I had no idea we were seeing him until we walked into the event center in Edmonds and saw his face on a poster. I think my jaw dropped. Andy's face was priceless! We had Lily on our minds, but had an awesome time full of laughs and toe tapping. Lisa and Brandon looked a little tired by the time we got back to their house to pick our girl up, but it seemed like they had a pretty good time with her. Just a four hour taste before they get one of their own!
