Sick Day

I hate taking sick days. For some reason I always feel guilty staying home from work no matter how nasty I feel. Neve the less, I'm home on the couch drinking liquids and correcting papers while a substitute is right now letting the kids work independently in their work stations and will soon have them get ready to go to the library.

Since I am home, I am taking advantage of the time by sending off more emails to potential employers, downloading photos, and catching up on my blogging! I just attached two new photo galleries to our collection. Click on 2007 Cherry Blossoms in Tokyo or Hiking in Chiba to see a couple of our latest adventures. Just before Spring Break, Andy and I went up to Tokyo for a very filling brunch and then walked around Ueno Park and the East Garden at the Emperor's Palace to view the peak of cherry blossom season. It was a day filled with huge masses of people and wild sights. My biggest laugh came when I saw the people actually dressed up in tree costumes! The Chiba pictures are from this past Saturday. Our friend Mary Ann had told me about this park over on the neighboring peninsula where you could find the largest stone budda in Japan surrounded by hiking paths filled with all sorts of smaller statues. We had to take the ferry boat and a gondola to get there, but it was certainly well worth it. The park was beautiful and we took lots of fun photos. Andy is still sorting through his favorites, but we'll most likely post those soon.

Please keep sending those good vibes our direction. I'm still waiting to hear back from four of the six schools I've applied to for next year and I could use all the warm wishes that you can send!
